The CLI proved the system. DevHQ is the next layer.
The underlying development system works through the command line. The next step is turning approved DevHQ wireframes into a designed interface.
AI Dev OS began with a question: can the project retain its own plan, decisions, memory, and evidence while different AI coding engines do the work?
The command-line prototype gave me the first credible answer.
What the CLI proved
I used the system to initialize a project and ask it to build a simple to-do application. It proposed the work first, waited for approval, coordinated implementation and review, ran verification, and made the result available to preview locally.
The same underlying project could pause with one coding engine and continue with another. Codex and Claude acted as engines, while AI Dev OS retained the shared project state.
That proved the core workflow can operate through the CLI. It did not prove that the system is ready for broader use or that the command line is the right final experience.
DevHQ is the next component
DevHQ is the front-end layer that will use the underlying AI Dev OS system. It is where the work should become easier to understand, approve, monitor, review, and continue without relying on command-line interactions alone.
The DevHQ wireframes are now complete and approved. They establish the structure of the experience and how the important workflows should fit together.
Wireframes are not a finished product design. They answer questions about hierarchy, flow, and function. They do not yet define the final visual language or the detailed interaction quality.
What happens next
The next step is turning the approved wireframes into a complete visual design for DevHQ.
After that, the interface can be built on top of the system that already works through the CLI. That will create a more meaningful test: whether AI Dev OS can make real development work easier to direct and continue through a coherent product experience.
The honest status today is straightforward: the underlying system has been proven in a bounded CLI test, the DevHQ wireframes are approved, and visual design is next.
